Iran’s ‘Gray Body’ to go to Filmfest Dresden in Germany

The 33rd Filmfest Dresden in Germany is to host Iranian animation ‘Gray Body’.

The 33rd edition of the Filmfest Dresden – International Short Film Festival in Germany has been scheduled to host Iranian animation ‘Gray Body’.

Produced at Iran’s Documentary and Experimental Film Center (DEFC) and directed by Samaneh Shojaee, the short animation narrates the story of a doctor who checks his patients calmly.

The people he is visiting are some psychiatric patients who are waiting to see the doctor. What cannot be expected of these people is to keep calm.

‘Gray Body’ has been screened in some global events, including the New Orleans Film Festival, the deadCENTER Film Festival, and the Los Angeles Women’s International Film Festival, all in the US.

It has received some awards, including the best animated effects, the best writing award for Amin Kaffashzadeh, and an honorable mention for directing at the 11th Iran Independent Animation Celebration, as well as the Association Internationale du Film d’Animation (ASIFA) award at the 36th Tehran International Short Film Festival.

The 33rd Filmfest Dresden, which had been postponed in September 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, is re-scheduled for April 13-18, 2021.

More than 2,700 short films from 104 countries, including Germany, France, Spain, South Korea, the UK, the US and Canada, have been submitted to the latest edition of the festival.
